The ancient cemetery was discovered during the reconstruction of a tobacco factory in 1923. The necropolis was located at a considerable distance from the old city and covered a vast area. More than two thousand graves cover the period from the third to fifth centuries ad. The cemetery surrounded a Basilica dedicated to the martyrs of Bishop Fructosis and his companions, who were executed by the Romans in the arena of the amphitheater. Judging by the variety of burials-from the simplest headstones-tegulae (tegulae) to real mausoleums, Christians of various classes were buried here, the deceased were buried both in wooden coffins and North African sarcophagi.

No Spanish city is complete without a Bullring. Tarragona arena (Plaça de toros on the map it was built by a private company in 1883-1888 under the project of architect Ramon Salas I Ricomà in neo-Moorish style. The building looks round, but consists of 48 segments with straight walls. The outer diameter of the structure is one meter, and the height is 16.5 meters. In 1949, the municipality of Tarragona bought the building into city ownership. In 2010, the stands were reconstructed and a huge sliding dome with a radius of 40 meters and a weight of 980 tons appeared. The cost of the work was 18 million euros. Now bullfighting in Catalonia is banned, and the arena has received a new status - the Tarraco cultural center arena is used for concerts, theater productions and sports competitions.
